MADE/UP was at Gallery 2104 in Toronto, Canada in September 2021

As a project that began in 2017, this show was a way to seek respect for makeup artistry in visual art. This multi-media show connects a variety of art forms to share insight on how makeup artistry can impact a piece and its voice. Often overlooked and undervalued, makeup has been a part of traditional artwork in the past and is the mechanism in which stories are conveyed. Despite this, it has never been acknowledged as an art form.

Exploring the themes of inclusion and makeup as art, this show analyzes our society and ones longing for acceptance. Whether its examining ones inner-conflicts, challenging the beauty ideals in today’s society, or delving into the ritual of beauty and its vulnerable moments, it is clear - make up art exists.
